
Job Description
An opportunity for a Highways Senior Engineer in our Nottingham Office, within our Highways and Transportation business, as part of our Transport Solutions business. Transport Solutions is an integral part of our business which, within Highways and Transportation, embraces all aspects of Highways and Bridges design, development and application of Intelligent Transport systems, and Strategic Asset Management. Reporting to an Associate / Group Engineer you will provide technical input and support within a team of engineers and technicians in delivering quality highway design solutions.
Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Prepare reports, designs, specifications and contract documents
- Provide technical expertise on highway design and will support and develop less experienced members of the team
- Liaise with other engineers within Atkins to share and gain knowledge on best practice and will ensure that updates to technical standards etc are disseminated to the team
- Assist the Associate / Group Engineer in ensuring that each design brief is completed to the satisfaction of the client
- Ensure the quality of project deliverables and conduct design checks of the work undertaken by the team
- Liaise with customers, contractors, sub-consultants, other design teams and professional organisations on technical design mattersEnsuring
- Compliance with Quality, Safety and Environmental procedures to Atkins Business Management Systems
- Work is undertaken to programme and budget
- Health and Safety obligations are met
Requirements
Qualifications:
- A relevant Degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartered / Incorporated Engineer or actively working towards the professional review of ICE or equivalent in the near future Experience:
- Extensive UK highway design experience, including drainage design, of new highway projects and junction improvements, either publicly or privately funded
- Highways Agency and Local Authority procedures and / or standards particularly DMRB and MCDHW
- Health and Safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations 2007
- Computer literate (e.g. Excel, Word, MS Project)
- UK / EEC driving licence desirable
