Job Title: Quantity Surveyor Be part of the Christchurch refurbishment which is due to be driven across many sectors within the civil engineering industry from transport infrastructure upgrades and resources extraction. A large amount of development is due to start within the roading sector.CompanyThe Civil Engineering company has proven and extensive civil engineering and project management skills delivering engineering excellence through cost efficient client focused solutions from minor works through to major infrastructure projects. They operate nationally throughout New Zealand and have a strong focus on delivering first class transportation and roading projects.Due to our growing order book an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to support our regional projects. Location : Christchurch New Zealand Package: $65 $75k + benefits. Main Duties The successful person would be expected to have a solid financial background working within the civil engineering and construction sectors particularly within roading construction sector. The role would require close liaison with client and supply chain partners Cost and Value management Assist with preparation maintenance and agreement of Project accounts Assist with providing commercial and financial reporting information Ensure compliance with Skanska standards and procedures in respect of Commercial activities Subcontract procurement and management Assist with claims management Assist with control of project documentation Recording and assisting with management of change. Requirements The successful candidate will bring to the role; * Min.6 year post grad experience. * Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar financial related tertiary qualifications. * Assessment of estimates built from first principles and whole contracts. * Ability to translate measurement from drawings and Specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of rates and prepare procurement documentation. * Understands the principles of Budget and Cost Management. * A full and demonstrable working knowledge of cost variables within a civil engineering environment. * Demonstrated experience in successfully managing the commercial aspects for a section of a large project or complete responsibility for a smaller project. * Previous experience working in a financial team.* Ability to deliver key financial results including reporting. * Excellent written and oral communication skills.Responsibilites * Prepares Activity Schedules Resource Schedules. * Putting together compensation events. * Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time Location. * Monitors subcontract activities measure and respond appropriately. * Analyses the commercial progress and report to senior project staff. * Assists in the procurement of packages other than drainage which has already been procured. * Analyses rates & prices agreement of variations and or compensation events as required. * Prepares internal reports commercial progress and financial reconciliation. * Supervision and development of assistant QS's.
