The UK Water Division provides expert advice on all aspects of water and supply and wastewater engineering. The Subdivisional Manager will hold an executive position on the Divisional board with responsibility the Central Subdivision WUM), which covers the Central UK area. This is an area of strategic importance to the successful operations of the Division. Based in our Cambridge office you will lead and direct operations for the UK Central Region, including; commercial management, technical delivery, key customer retention and vital focus on new business development.A key feature of the role will be to sell our UK based water expertise to other water teams based in our international offices through our global regional structure.In 2011 the Water Division delivered ?18.7m net) revenue and employed 295 staff. WUM is one of four Subdivisions and last year achieved 20% of that number. In 2012 we were voted for the sixth year in the top 25 Sunday Times, ‘Best Big Companies to Work For’.Candidate Specification:• Degree in a related engineering discipline.• Chartered Engineer.• Previous commercial management experience in water consultancy.• Demonstrable track record of successful business strategy, development and achievement against targets. Strong client and stakeholder relationship building and partnering skills.• Strong track record of framework performance and delivery; substantial experience of managing and leading multi disciplinary teams, including teams seconded into client organisations remote from Mott MacDonald’s offices.• Strong track record of successfully directing the delivery of projects to budget, programme and standard required.• You will be able to demonstrate the following key skills: Leadership, people management and development, operation management, business development and communication.• High level of technical expertise and focus on quality and technical excellence.• High Level of IT proficiency.Job Description:The main elements of the role will include:• Accountability to the Water Division Board for the successful delivery of the subdivision's budgeted net revenue and profit.• Responsibility for the professional welfare and development of around 120 staff based in the Central Subdivision.• Selling our UK based water expertise to other water teams based in our international offices through our global regional structure.• Project Director for a large portfolio of multidisciplinary projects, ensuring that they are delivered to programme and budget and the standard required.• Providing leadership to design teams with a focus on project delivery through active involvement and review of project management plans, deliverables and change control.• Planning and managing the staff resourcing of projects and ensuring that appropriate technical experience and expertise is available to the project teams.• Establishing and maintaining excellent client relationships and providing scope for future business development opportunities.• Taking a leading role in establishing new business opportunities in the UK Central area.• Bid Director responsible for the management, preparation and approval of bid proposals.• Supporting the development, dissemination and application of best practice in the UK Water Division.• Development of the skills and capabilities of staff through mentoring, coaching and specialist technical leadership.• Supporting the Water Division in the implementation of BIM on project work.Reporting to the Divisional Manager you will be accountable for the commercial and operational performance of the Central Subdivision.Mott MacDonald Listed in Sunday Times Best Big Companies to work for for six years running.
