We are currently seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer with Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and Chartered with the Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers to join our team in Bristol City Council. The role requires proficiency in superstructure and substructure design to UK design codes (Eurocodes desirable), good knowledge of main materials of construction. The role requires providing technical expertise and engineering skills and extensive knowledge in building structures. The position requires a high degree of technical judgement as a significant part of the work carried out in building control is directly related to structural engineering in assessment for compliance with Part A of the building regulations.

The role also requires carrying site inspections during the build process, inspection and advice regarding the Dangerous structures, advising on Safety at Sport Grounds and other matters where structural knowledge is required such as advice to planning department on feasibility of the proposed development. The role will also provide the successful candidate with an insight and training in other building regulations requirements.
