The Coal Authority is a non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Our legacy mission is to protect the public and the environment in mining areas, by providing expert advice, creative and agile solutions and evaluate the impacts of mining from all angles. We have over 20 years’ experience in public services and managing property, safety and environment risks and are aiming to be a world leader in resolving the impacts of mining. This long term legacy work is managed by a grant in aid from BEIS and is approaching £3 billion.
We have, over the past 5 years began a transformation journey to enable us to deliver our statutory duties side by side as well as serve our increasing customer base.

The Coal Authority now seeks to appoint an exceptional Chief Executive to lead the organisation and implement our strategy and vision. This is a really exciting time to join us as we continue to transform and expand our range of commercial products and services to developers, infrastructure providers, homebuyers and internationally.
Candidates for this role will have drive, exceptional leadership qualities and a passion for continuous improvement.
