They have gained an excellent reputation for master planning and securing planning consents for both complex and challenging schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Technician / Design Engineer to join a successful, well-established Planning Design Consultancy based in a friendly, vibrant office in Cardiff on a permanent basis.

Your new role
Working on an interesting mix of Residential, Commercial and Industrial infrastructure you will be assisting in the preparation of CAD drawings within a friendly, close-knit team. You will be technically competent with the awareness of issues around highways projects and will have a strong background in producing highways, infrastructure and development CAD designs and drawings. You will be providing CAD and technical support for other members of staff and ensuring that all designs are produced in accordance with the company's standards and legislation. You will be able to prepare designs with an in-depth knowledge of DMRB and MfS suite of documents. You will also have a working knowledge of processes such as requirements for TRO, S278, S38 and S106 works along with the capability of carrying out site inspections and surveys. You will need to be comfortable with delivering design projects to programme and budget and competent with managing workload and resources proactively to ensure that resources are fully utilised.

What you'll need to succeed
You will ideally have an HNC, or equivalent, in civil engineering with previous experience in Highways and Transportation an essential requirement for the role. You'll have proven knowledge in the preliminary and detailed design of highways related projects, highway maintenance along with proven knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) & Manual for Streets (MfS1&2). You should have strong financial awareness and commercial acumen to be able to manage the costs of highways related projects to provide the best value for clients in turn, positive results. Your enthusiasm to learn and work in a team environment is essential and you will need to be an 'approachable' team player. You will need to be competent with managing workload to meet deadlines which may sometimes be demanding.
