Civil (Water) Engineers from assistant level up to principal level.


Your new company

A global design consultancy which provides a range of multi-disciplinary services to their customers, driving value across their asset portfolio. They are the fastest growing consultancy in the UK and are relied upon to manage, improve, and maximise the performance of a vast range of assets vital to the effectiveness and sustainability of the UK. More specifically, you will be joining their water team who are currently delivering an expanding and exciting workload for their Scottish clients, including their key client Scottish Water. They are now looking for Civil Engineers at all levels with a background and interest in the water sector.


Your new role

The role will vary depend on your level, however it will generally consist of the following duties within their design and build team that operates within the water/wastewater sector:


  • Implement the project requirements to fully meet the client specification in accordance with relevant standards
  • Develop designs in accordance with the Client's requirements and relevant design standards to achieve cost effective solutions
  • Undertake the role of the Lead Design Engineer
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Client and other relevant stakeholders
  • Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence
  • Assist with competency appraisal processes subject to suitable level of supervision
  • Carry out site visits and surveys, inspections and supervise sub-contractors
  • Prepare and check feasibility studies, inspection, assessment and technical reports and other written documents in an appropriate format
  • Prepare/check design approach, calculations, drawings and documents
  • Take line management responsibility for the direction and supervision of junior design team members to help ensure timely project delivery is achieved within budget and in accordance with the specification
  • Engage in client and third party liaison
  • Support the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts, when required
  • Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment
  • Undertake the performance appraisals for all reporting staff and support learning and development opportunities




What you'll need to succeed

In order to be considered for this role you will need to be:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng + MICE) or working towards chartership. Candidates with particular equivalent relevant experience will also be considered
  • Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and relevant engineering software packages
  • Demonstrable experience in Water / Wastewater Engineering
  • Good written and oral communication and organisational skills and to produce reports in clear concise English
  • Good experience of the co-ordination of the design process and team management
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines
  • Good communication skills dealing with clients, project partners, supply chain, elected representatives and the public
  • Client focused approach to service delivery
  • Self-motivated with the drive to achieve continuous improvement targets
  • Full Driving Licence
