Principal Structural Engineer
The structural division of this medium size national independent consultancy works on new and refurbishment projects valued up to £300m. They range from lottery funded restorations of heritage projects through to high rise and mixed use re-generation schemes. The position requires a versatile building structures engineer who can manage design production and mentor junior engineers and graduates. Their success can be largely attributed to their high level of technical expertise and commercial acumen. Added to this is their fundamental commitment to client care and a deeper understanding and interest in what their customers want. Their approach is unlike some of their multinational competitors who view client care in terms of performance matrixes that can be administered by any number of client relationship managers. Their senior engineers and directors collaborate very closely with clients, often these relationships last for many years, helped by a very low turnover of senior staff.
They are looking for a like-minded engineer who is ready to take on more responsibility for project delivery and who takes pride in his or her work. Your duties will include providing client advice, resource planning and programming, attending client and site visits, technical and design leadership, quality control and acting as you client’s principal contact. You should have a 2:1 in civil or structural engineering from a recognised university, if you are not already a chartered civil or structural engineer you should be working towards it. A strong background n building structures design is essential. The company’s continued success is driving steady growth, there is plenty of potential to progress your career here.
