The role

This role delivers the technical and strategic capability needed to fulfil the Council’s work as a Lead Local Flood Authority. The job involves ensuring an evidence-based approach to understanding local flood risk, developing projects from the Council’s Flood Risk Management Strategy, providing advice on planning applications, and working in partnership with neighbouring boroughs, the Environment Agency, Thames Water and others to evaluate, mitigate and respond to flood risk.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with excellent practical knowledge of flood risk management in a local authority context, who is skilled at taking a strategic approach, as well as being able to get to grips with the detail of flood risk in an urban context. We are seeking someone able to manage a diverse workload and make the connections to wider work in the borough and London. The successful candidate will need to be experienced at using GIS mapping.

In return, we’ll offer excellent development opportunities, plus a range of benefits that includes a career average pension scheme, flexible working and the opportunity to make a real difference to our local community.
