Technical Manager job in Bristol with well-known UK housebuilder, civil engineering, construction

Your new company is an expanding top 10 UK housebuilder that design and build high quality homes, transforming communities to improve the lives of local people and creating places that people want to live. With their national presence, local knowledge and expertise combined, their comprehensive skills and capabilities give them a wider perspective across the whole housing life cycle and create lower risk ways of building homes people need. With their expanding work load and growing presence in the local market, they now require a Technical Manager join the South West team in Bristol.

Your new role
The main purpose of your new role is to develop and manage the technical processes with the clients and your new company, and to ensure that the best commercial design for each scheme is achieved. You will be working very closely with the Land team to ensure that feasibility sketches are buildable and compliant with regulations. You will appoint brief and manage specialist consultants in all design and survey work to achieve the company design requirements. You'll be working closely with other staff to prepare the brief for consultants, making sure that all approvals are in place when required. You'll be responsible for establishing approval of proposals to ensure that all constructed works and surplus land will be passed on the appropriate statutory bodies. You will need to issue drawings and information through a register system to ensure control on site and make sure that amendments to standard drawings are incorporated by external consultants. You'll need to understand and evaluate the technical constraints on land development, commission on ground investigation and remediation reports and review technical information concerning remediation.

What you'll need to succeed
You'll need to be a confident oral and written communicator, communicate effectively with all those who have a stake in the work, be an effective time manager in order to meet agreed deadlines, able to negotiate and influence and confident with mentoring and supporting more junior staff and the team. You will need to have previous experience within the technical environment, up to date relevant knowledge of building and health & safety legislation, and experience of partnership arrangements.
