Structural Consultant

North London Local Authority, Structural Consultant, ongoing contract 12 months plus. Competitive hourly rate.

Your new company
This large Local Authority are currently recruiting for an experienced Structural Consultant / Engineer to join the in house Engineering team providing a full design service. The offices are based next to a busy tube station and easy to access via Overground and Underground stations.

Your new role
You will be tasked with providing Structural Engineering expertise to a number of new and complex projects. This will involve inspecting, monitoring and reporting on remedial works necessary to defective building structures including carrying out repairs such as underpinning and strengthening etc...
You will be checking structural elements to Building Regulations and Eurocodes, on both Highways structures and Buildings. You will also be tasked with completing full detailed designs for both new works and refurbishment projects.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need to have had experience working within the UK and to UK Building Regs and codes. Design experience gained either within a consultant, contractor or another Council would also be essential, as is the use of AutoCAD. You will need a knowledge of structural engineering practice and procedures, the design and construction process, H&S including CDM, quality management, fee management and resource planning. Ideally you will be qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering with a link to a governing body such as the IStructE
