It's an important and exciting time at Robert West and we have identified the need for a talented and high quality Engineer to strengthen the delivery teams in our London office. Our workload is exciting, diverse and ranges from scheme design of quays, breakwaters and jetties to the detailed calculation and design of complex marine structures and modifications/refurbishments of existing structures.

We are proud of providing added value to our clients.  We are good at solving problems and finding imaginative solutions to marine engineering challenges.  We have a large and varied portfolio of marine works; Aberdeen Harbour Expansion, Thames Tideway Tunnel foreshore projects on the central sector, Woolwich Ferry Berth, Kinkardine offshore farm and several projects abroad; Kuwait LNG terminal at Ras Al Zhour, Caisson Breakwater at Azu port in Brazil and so forth.

We are looking for an engineer who has experience in the marine sector. The role will offer great opportunities for career progression.

About You

You will have a broad range of skills and experience designing and assessing various types of structure in a range of construction materials and therefore a strong technical background. The experience you have gained has given you an intuitive feel for civil engineering, and allows you to make engineering judgements quickly. 

You will have proven experience some of the following: 

  • Marine design
  • Marine structures
  • Wave and tide hydrodynamics
  • Mooring and berthing analysis
  • Floatation calculations

Key Skills

-1st or upper 2nd B Eng / M Eng (Hons) degree expected or equivalent high quality technical training

-Demonstrable success in the execution of design calculations
-Knowledge of CDM regulations
-Familiarity with Project Management and Quality Management Systems
-The ability to identify, develop and present civil engineering solutions
-A basic understanding of wave hydrodynamics, structural engineering and soil mechanics
-Desire to take the initiative where necessary
-Ability to work independently and see tasks through to completion with minimal input
-Ability to function well within a team environment.
