Job Details

An opportunity for a senior building structures engineer with a respected London building structures practice working at the creative and technically challenging end of the structural engineering spectrum. The position will provide the challenges, mentoring and experience for you to succeed whilst enjoying a satisfying career with prospects. You will work alongside and learn from the brightest in the industry. This is a role for a chartered, or approaching chartered status civil or structural engineer with a good degree from a reputable university. A flair for design and a background in building structures design and delivery is essential.

Their work: Their projects will engage your lateral thinking skills and require all your technical knowledge. They are regular collaborators with celebrated architects demanding  advanced and innovative structural input to bring their buildings to life. It is a close working relationship that starts at concept stages and will involve you at scheme design stages through to delivery.  Their structural work combines creativity with serious technical know-how to enable the creation of beautifully designed buildings across sectors, each providing their own unique challenges. These include: Arts & leisure, residential, commercial, healthcare and education schemes.

Training & Experience: Whilst you will manage your own projects, support and input is on hand from the firms’ two most senior directors, both industry figures with a wealth of knowledge to impart. You will develop very close working relationships with architects who will rely on you to develop the structural approach required to realise their architectural visions . This will mean you are a key figure at critical initial consultation and advisory stages. You will go on to negotiate fee’s and manage design production and delivery. You should therefore have good communication skills and the ability to motivate and mentor the engineers and technicians working on your projects.

Work Environment & Benefits: This productive and creative work environment is also a fun and sociable place to be. You will work alongside bright likeminded engineers who are keen to pass on their knowledge. The office is highly resourced and designed to provide ease of working. Working for this medium size practice means making a meaningful contribution to their success and sharing in the rewards. They provide a generous quarterly bonus scheme, paid lunches twice weekly, a contributory pension and there is an overseas trip arranged for all staff each year.
