Due to an ever-expanding order book your new company are now looking for a Principal / Associate Structural Engineer to join the team in Bristol.

Your new role
In your new role you will be responsible for technical design and report preparation, delivering projects within the Southern region and further afield as part of national delivery teams. You will generate work while working closely with the team lead to assist with general team management. You will supervise a small but able team and mentor the newly appointed undergraduate engineer and will have a large involvement in both new build and refurbishment projects working from the early planning stages right through to the end of the delivery phase. You will be working across a number of different sectors, one of which will be the defence sector. Due to the nature of the work in the defence & government sectors, you will be required to hold, or achieve, a level of security clearance which the company will facilitate.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need to have some experience of general team management and supervision along with experience of management of projects involving other disciplines. You'll need to have a good technical knowledge of building design and general structural engineering, good written and verbal communication skills, and good problem solving, analytical skills and numerical knowledge. You should have a practical approach to time-management and the ability to switch between jobs at short notice, able to deliver multiple projects at the same time, and able to work independently. An appreciation and knowledge of civil infrastructure design would be beneficial. Prior experience and knowledge of Building Structures and Structural Engineering is essential for this role including a recognised engineering degree and Chartership with either the Institution of Civil or Structural Engineers. You will need to be able to obtain a minimum of 'DV' security clearance and ideally will have experience of working on military projects.
