Senior Civil Estimator – Auckland, NZ

The search is on for a Senior Civil Estimator to join this top tier contractor in Auckland. Working throughout the north and south island this contractor has completed some of the most prestigious and challenging projects in New Zealand and their name echoes quality and professionalism. They are now looking for an experienced civil estimator to join the team as they head into a prosperous era for the civil sector in New Zealand.

A specialist in the civil & infrastructure sectors in New Zealand this contractor leans towards heavier civil works that include pipelines, marine, drainage, roads, bridges, rail, water, mechanical, earthworks, piling and concrete. Projects include both conventional and design and build and can range in value from $500,000 to $50 million but the company has also worked on joint venture projects worth considerably more.

As Senior Estimator you will be part of the senior management team strategically planning the workload ahead and leading the tender/bid team consisting of estimators, engineers and attributes writers. You will be responsible for creating method statements, risk assessments and tender programmes and documents whilst at the same time liaising with designers, clients and subcontractors where appropriate. Ideally you will have an engineering background and as such be able to offer engineering solutions and alternatives in order to create a winning tender. Other desirable attributes include;

• A degree or equivalent industry related qualification
• A minimum of 10 years in the civil sector with at least half in an estimating role
• Experience in a wide range of civil disciplines (see above)
• Experienced with estimating software such as Candy or similar
• A proven track record of successfully winning projects
• Excellent organisation and communication skills
