Exciting opportunity for a Principal Civil Engineer professional to join a well-established public and private sector team based in St. Albans!!

A leading consultancy is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer with a bias to below ground building, development drainage and private road design to become a permanent member of the Principal Civil Engineer Projects Team. You will be fully responsible for the production and management of technical designs, and report writing, for a variety of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Fully responsible for technical designs including flood risk assessments, schematic designs, masterplan designs, drawings and specifications for infrastructure projects associated with public and privately funded developments as well as international projects
  • Required to plan and provide resourcing schedules, financial planning and fee proposals associated with your project or part of the project you are responsible for
  • The role will also involve liaison with clients, local authorities and representatives from external organisations
  • Required to work using your own initiative and drive with minimal to no supervision, the role will also involve the support, mentoring and supervision of junior team members
  • Responsible for the technical design, production and review of projects, as well as review and checking of design information and reports prepared by others
  • Must have the ability to liaise with and coordinate the work of other specialists within the company and with 3rd parties
  • Work must be completed in accordance with company quality and Health & Safety requirements and financial constraints
  • Required to produce or assist with the production of proposals for new commissions, and undertake project management and financial control of a project or part of a project you are responsible for

Requirements:

  • Have good and professional communication skills both oral and written and the ability to use computer modelling and design software associated with below ground drainage designs, road design, earthworks and specification writing (i.e. MicroDrainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D, NBS Buildings and NBS Create)
  • Experienced in the production of detailed design information, technical reports, drawings, tender documents & specifications, integration with BIM for public and private developments, and familiar with Design Standards such as Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations, National Planning Policy Framework, Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM and LEED, the Specifications for Highways works and other relevant British Infrastructure regulations
  • Experienced in drainage infrastructure to adoptable standards including the negotiation of Section 104 and 106
  • Beneficial to have experience in international projects
  • Ideally, you will be Chartered
