Exciting opportunity for a Principal Civil Engineer professional to join a well-established public and private sector team based in London!!!

A leading consultancy is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer who will be responsible for the design and undertaking of project management to drive forward various civil infrastructure projects related to commercial, residential and transportation developments. The Principal Civil Engineer will provide wide ranging infrastructure design and project management expertise to deliver multi-disciplined developments.

Responsibilities:

  • Project management of development related infrastructure projects including planning, control and monitoring from feasibility through to detailed design phase and construction support
  • Lead the delivery of infrastructure design
  • Coordinate workload and manage design teams
  • Carry out design reviews
  • Preparation of project budgets & programmes and resource the team's workload
  • Delivery of all specified project outcomes on time, within budget and to the quality required
  • Provide a client focused service which results in on-going satisfaction and repeat business
  • Build effective relationships within teams, across the organisation and externally
  • Provide leadership to the team and to ensure all projects are delivered to programme, quality and budget
  • Directly manage and deliver the technical, financial and management requirements of design projects
  • Produce project reports for client and internal reporting requirements
  • Lead a small team with line manager responsibilities
  • Undertake and support work-winning initiatives

Requirements:

  • Ideally, you will hold a BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Ideally, you will be Chartered
  • Must have experience in the preparation of contract drawings and specifications and the negotiation of Section 38 and 278 Agreements for highway works, 104 and 106 Agreements for sewers and also utilities works experience
  • To have knowledge and experience and be able to produce the design of highways, access roads and infrastructure of development projects including the design of road geometry, public realm, earthworks, pavements, drainage and underground services
  • To understand and have experience of the MCHW, DMRB, MfS and local authority design guidances
  • Detailed knowledge of road design using 3D computer modelling packages, such as Civil 3D
  • Detailed knowledge of drainage design including piped systems, SuDS based systems and familiar with storage design and computer programs such as MicroDrainage
  • Be able to identify, design and procure Statutory Utilities diversions and be familiar with NRSWA procedures;
  • Good working knowledge of construction contracts (E.g. NEC or similar)
  • Prepare fee proposals based on number of hours to complete activities
  • Be able to forecast resource requirements
  • Have awareness of public sector procurement requirements
  • Understand and have experience of local government development criteria and policies
  • Have awareness of highway and drainage law
  • Develop, manage and deploy plans that are appropriately comprehensive, realistic and effective in meeting personal, project and business goals
  • Uses analysis of relevant information and own judgement to make informed and sound decisions
