Senior / Principal Civil Engineer
Location: Winchester
Salary: £Competitive

As an experienced Civil Engineer at our Winchester office you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the design from inception to the production of as-built drawings. In addition, you will also be expected to mentor less experienced engineers and technicians within the office. 

Main Duties 

  • Supervise CAD Technicians 
  • Represent the company at external meetings with clients and fellow professionals 
  • Be responsible for delivering work to a fee agreed with a Project Manager 
  • Project profitability (monitoring / planning of costs and budgets) 
  • Prepare client / project proposals 
  • Assist in negotiating fee proposals and requesting additional fees 
  • Construct project teams from internal and external resources
  • Procure project resources 
  • Agree design philosophy / design fundamentals 

Skills Required 

  • Be familiar with Building regulations Approved documents, SuDS Manual, Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM and be able to prepare Flood Risk Assessments
  • Knowledge of the Flood and Water Management Act and its implications on the design of drainage schemes will be beneficial
  • Demonstrable experience in Section 38, 278 and 104 Agreements 
  • Hands on knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroDrainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D would be particularly advantageous
  • Experience designing all aspects of development Infrastructure works [Roads, Drainage, Plot Level designs etc.]
  • Recently Chartered or near Chartered

The role will be client facing and therefore strong interpersonal and communicative skills are essential. 

Raising awareness – A commitment to understanding and promoting the wider Ridge services and capabilities, and to sharing this knowledge with the contacts you deal with, internally and externally with Clients and contact. All staff are expected to maintain a Cross-Selling log throughout the year, for review as part of the annual PDR process.
