As Principal Engineer you will be responsible for design and undertake project management to drive forward various civil infrastructure projects related to commercial, residential and transportation developments and help develop the Company's business.
Provide wide ranging infrastructure design and project management expertise to deliver multi-disciplined developments.

Job Duties

  • Project management of development related infrastructure projects including planning, control and monitoring from feasibility through to detailed design phase and construction support.
  • Lead the delivery of infrastructure design.
  • Coordinate workload and manage design teams.
  • Carry out design reviews.
  • Preparation of project budgets & programmes and resource the team's workload.
  • Delivery of all specified project outcomes on time, within budget and to the quality required.
  • Provide a client focused service which results in on-going satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Build effective relationships within teams, across the organisation and externally.
  • Provide leadership to the team and to ensure all projects are delivered to programme, quality and budget.
  • Directly manage and deliver the technical, financial and management requirements of design projects.
  • Produce project reports for client and internal reporting requirements.
  • Lead a small team with line manager responsibilities.
  • Undertake and support work-winning initiatives.

  • Specific Skills Required

  • To have knowledge and experience and be able to produce the design of highways, access roads and infrastructure of development projects including the design of road geometry, public realm, earthworks, pavements, drainage and underground services;
  • To understand and have experience of the MCHW, DMRB, MfS and local authority design guidances;
  • Detailed knowledge of road design using 3D computer modelling packages, such as Civil 3D;
  • Detailed knowledge of drainage design including piped systems, SuDS based systems and familiar with storage design and computer programs such as MicroDrainage;
  • Be able to co-ordinate with Statutory Utilities to ensure capacity for new development exists within existing networks. Can determine appropriate response if this is not the case;
  • Be able to identify, design and procure Statutory Utilities diversions and be familiar with NRSWA procedures;
  • Good working knowledge of construction contracts (E.g. NEC or similar);
  • Prepare fee proposals based on number of hours to complete activities;
  • Be commercially aware and able to lead a team of engineers and technicians, to programme workloads and successfully deliver projects to time, budget and quality;
  • Be able to forecast resource requirements
