Site Engineer - Civil and Infrastructure - New Zealand

The civil and infrastructure sector in New Zealand has had a busy start to 2019 but that’s nothing compared to what is coming over the next few years and the foreseeable future. The industry is already working at capacity and before the end of the year two further projects in Auckland will be underway, with a combined value of over $4 billion. The number of engineers required to complete those projects, as well as all the other work, is still being assessed but contractors know that the majority of those new hires will come from overseas.

As a site engineer you will have a minimum of two years’ experience working as a contractor in the civil and infrastructure space. Projects vary and so your experience could be from any number of disciplines including water, road, tunnelling, structures, heavy civil, marine, concrete, earthworks, piling, maintenance, utilities, rail and general civils. The role will include basic setting out and applying general engineering principles as well as a good understanding of health and safety, quality control and environmental practices. Other desirable qualities include,

• A degree or equivalent industry based qualification
• Site based experience with a contractor
• Basic IT skills
• A good sense of humour and a drive to be successful
