Due to the continued growth of the national transportation team, they are now looking to appoint a Transport Planner to join the Bristol team in their state of the art city centre offices.

Your new role
The transportation team is located across five offices with a wealth of experience, able to offer support. Working as part of the national division, you will be exposed to a very varied portfolio of project work and practice. As a Transport Planner, you will be providing transport inputs relating to clients' development proposals and will work towards solutions which are acceptable to all stakeholders. You will have a varied portfolio of clients, and the ability to articulate and communicate planning ideas, concepts and proposals.

You'll encounter such a diverse range of assignments which will enhance and develop your skills in many different aspects of the job. This will include providing planning-stage support for a variety of development schemes, supporting the preparation of technical assessment documents and reports for planning submissions, supporting the technical assessments of junction performance using a range of industry-standard traffic modelling software, drafting of Travel Plans and sustainability assessments, pedestrian and cycle route design, general arrangement design work for new junctions and accesses onto the road network, accompanying Senior Consultants at project meetings and on-site visits, providing support for planning Appeals/Public Inquiries etc. and client liaison and business development.

What you'll need to succeed
To flourish in this role, you will need to have strong written, numerical and verbal communication skills and a client-focussed approach to work, be enthusiastic and industrious with a willingness to learn new skills, experienced with data analysis, interpretation and presentation, in particular using Excel. In short, someone who enjoys and thrives in finding solutions to complex problems. You'll need strong IT skills across a range of software, the ability to pick up new software quickly and a 'can-do' attitude to approaching new tasks. You should hold excellent people skills and the ability to work as part of a team, but can also immerse themselves into complex individual tasks, where needed, traffic modelling experience (trip generation and distribution methodologies, junction modelling etc); experience of Transport Assessments/Statements and Travel Plans; CAD design skills (particularly in relation to junction or car park design), degree qualified in a relevant subject (Preferably with an MSc in Transport Planning but other related degree disciplines include Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning and Maths - although this is not an exclusive list).
