Masonry Design Engineer

We are working with a successful multidisciplinary consultancy who are offering a unique opportunity for a Masonry Design Engineer to join their busy team in London.

They are working with a client for whom Masonry and Blockwork design have become very important and they are therefore looking for a Masonry Design Engineer willing to be the main point of contact with this contractor.

Projects: Refurbishment of residential and commercial schemes will fall within your design workload, along with new build structures.

Key responsibilities for the Masonry Design Engineer:

• Develop relationship with specialist masonry contractor.
• Attend design meetings with specialist contractor and main contractor.
• Calculate wind loading and barrier loading for design of masonry.
• Carry out design for internal blockwork wall panels, external masonry wall panels, reinforcement, wind posts, lintels, head and end restraints.
• Direct Revit technician to produce layout and detail drawings of masonry.
• Review BIM model for builderswork holes and check integrity of panels with openings.
• Invoicing for work completed.

Requirements:

• BEng 2:1, or MEng in Civil Engineering (or something closely related)
• Good communication skills
• Desire to become Chartered (assistance on offer)

You will work alongside Senior Chartered Engineers and our client is therefore in a great position to assist with the Chartership process and will assist the successful candidate in pursuit of this goal.
