Job Details

Attain Chartership with the support of an employer that TRULY values your development.

You interviewed with your current employer and were promised support, guidance and free time to study for Chartership?

Music to your ears, I bet.

What's since transpired, is that those promises have faded into thin air.

"We are very tight for deadlines this month. Could you go to that CPD event next month, instead?"

"I don't have the time to mentor you at the moment, I'm fighting fires"

Sound familiar?

It doesn't have to be this way, you know.

You deserve an employer who DOES support you, gives you dedicated time slots to study, assigns you a mentor and actively encourages CPD.

That company exists.

And they're looking for people like you…

THE JOB

You already know what a Structural Engineer does, or you wouldn't be reading this, so I'll be brief.

You will be responsible for carrying out structural design and analysis on a broad range of building structures from various markets:

  • Commercial
  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Retail
  • Heritage
  • Residential

Broader responsibilities:

  • Liaise with architects, contractors and local authorities/public bodies
  • Prepare fee proposals - under supervision if you haven't done this before
  • Conduct site visits and prepare progress reports

YOUR TEAM

You will be working in a team of talented, like-minded Structural Engineers who once upon a time felt exactly how you feel now!

There are over 20 people in the office and your project team is currently 7 strong, with two Chartered Structural Engineers leading your group.

FUTURE PROSPECTS

Want to be a future owner in the business? Great! There is absolutely a chance for you to achieve that. You will be supported into and operational role with greater commercial exposure to prepare you for your future role as a Director within the firm.

Not interested in the extra responsibility?

That's fine!

If you are looking for more of a technical role then your aspirations will be fully supported, either way.

This doesn't mean you have no progression options, though. From Structural Engineer you can move to Senior, Principal and on to Technical Director if you wish.

The key philosophy is that this employer will play to your strengths, rather than try and mould you into someone you're not.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

  • You should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Basic foundations of Structural Engineering should be nailed - a couple of years working in industry as a benchmark
  • It's assumed you can use common design and analysis software

ON OFFER

Salary will largely depend on your specific experience, but you can expect somewhere in the region of £28,000 to £32,000.

There is a competitive benefits package to accompany, which I can discuss with you on receipt of your application.

Well, what are you waiting for? Hit apply and get yourself back on track to Chartership.

CONFIDENTIALITY

I understand the importance of confidentiality and would NEVER send your personal details to any of my clients before gaining your consent. So, rest assured when you hit 'Apply' your CV will not be forwarded until such time as you have given me permission to do so.
