Salary: £Negotiable – depending on experience

The Ridge Civil Engineering team has particular expertise in highways design for roads, pavements, bridges, Section 278 Agreements and in earthworks engineering, cut and fill assessments, remediation, coordination of underground services, flood alleviation, sustainable drainage systems, pumping stations, sewerage and private external works.
As a Civil Engineer based at our offices in Birmingham covering a wide range of disciplines in property and construction, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of civil engineering services under the direction of the Team Manager, including the following:-
•Producing external woks and drainage designs relating to medium to large development projects
•Highway design a benefit but not essential
•Produce flood risk assessments (FRA’s) and Drainage strategies
•Supervise CAD Technicians
•Represent the company at external meetings with clients and fellow professionals
•Be responsible for delivering work to a fee agreed with a Project Manager
•Project profitability (monitoring / planning of costs and budgets)
•Prepare client / project proposals
•Assist in negotiating fee proposals and requesting additional fees
•Construct project teams from internal and external resources.
•Procure project resources / specialist outworks
•Agree design philosophy / design fundamentals
Skills and Experience Required
•2 years plus post-graduate experience in a similar role, ideally within a private practice
•Good understanding of section 38, 278 (Highways Act) and section 104, 106 and 185 (Water industry Act) agreements – desirable
•Experience in drainage (foul and surface) and minor road way design
•Good working knowledge of Microdrainage or comparable drainage design software
•On occasion , the candidate will be required to produce cad information and as such a knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3d or comparable civil engineering software would be a benefit
•Competent in the design of external works for private sites including vertical and horizontal setting out to Building regulations, British Standard and local requirements.
•Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application within civil engineering.
