Senior Civil Engineer, London & South East (Home based, 30 hours per week)

An opportunity to be based from home and work for one the UK’s leading civil engineering and building contractors. This is an intriguing opportunity for someone interested in working a thirty hour week in a flexible and varied position. Our client is a profitable and well managed contractor associated with major projects in the rail, highways, energy and building sectors. They are looking for an experienced, senior engineer who has worked on major building or civil engineering projects in a site or office based capacity. The position calls for good interpersonal and communication skills and an interest in applying your existing expertise in a new area. Reporting to the chief engineer your role will be to visit sites in their London and South East region and identify which aspects of their works qualify for HMRC research & development status. You are not expected to have any previous experience in this field. You will be fully briefed by the design and tender team prior to visiting site.

Overview: The inland revenue is encouraging better productivity and innovation through a range of incentives for research & development and the construction industry is a major recipient. Our client’s turnover exceeds one billion pounds, their use of new and improved materials, processes and techniques means they are eligible for significant R&D tax breaks. Your role, in conjunction with the design team and construction managers is to ensure these are identified.

You should be a degree qualified engineer, or equivalent, with building or civil engineering design or site experience (some site experience is essential). They are particularly interested in someone with extensive industry experience who will be comfortable working alongside project directors and senior members of their technical division. It is envisaged there will be between two and four site visits per week. Much of your report writing and administration can be completed at home, you have the option of working from there purposes built offices should you wish, these are highly resourced and offer car parking and a range of facilities.
