Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (Insurance sector, can be partly home based)

Our client is an international loss adjusting practice providing expertise in construction and civil engineering negligence. They focus on the technical investigation of professional indemnity claims, providing advice and acting to settle claims on behalf of insurers and the insured. Their workload has an emphasis on rail, ports & harbour, airport, energy installations and commercial property. They operate extensively throughout the UK, Europe, Australia and the Middle East investigating claims typically valued up to £200 million.

With a consistent and growing demand for their civil and construction adjusting expertise they need to appoint a chartered civil or structural engineer. Working alongside your in-house legal counterparts you will aim to avoid litigation and minimise client’s and claimant’s costs. Your role will provide early clarification of causation and the instigation of claims handling strategies. Your engineering background will enable you to survey and investigate the cause of failures, occasionally engaging external experts for technical support outside of your area of expertise. You should ideally have previous adjusting experience of handling negligence claims for the construction sector.  Some short overseas visits may be required.
