Your role:

The Network Management Group are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to join our team.

You will manage the Highway Structures team leading on the management and maintenance of the borough’s highway structures including bridges, walls and road culverts. You will also carry out the duties of Technical Approval Authority on behalf of the council in relation to developers and consultants' proposals for new highway structures within the borough.

You will play a key role in the delivery of the aspirations and objectives set out in the Highway Asset Management Policy, Strategy and Plan which aims to embed asset management as our core approach to managing our highway infrastructure.

About you:

You will be a Chartered Engineer and hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering along with a strong sense of purpose to strive to give your best and an ability to collaborate positively with our service providers and communities.

You will have excellent communication skills and practical and extensive experience of highway structures design, implementation, supervision and inspections. You will have the ability to manage your own and the team’s workload and to allocate scheme and project works within the team. A flexible and adaptable approach to work is essential, together with the ability to use innovation in your approach to identify and deliver effective engineering and design solutions for a range of projects.

This exciting new role is part of the Network Management Group. We play an integral role in managing and maintaining the borough’s highway infrastructure which has a value of £1.6bn. The highway infrastructure plays a key role in allowing residents, businesses and visitors to travel safely around the borough and connect into the wider region.
