A civil  engineer with a background in highways, traffic and roads is required by a leading forensic engineering consultancy. They are looking for a civil engineer with an interest in developing a new career within forensic engineering, or someone  with a forensics background. You should be a chartered engineer, or close to achieving chartership with Engineers Ireland, the ICE, IHT or a similar body. For someone new to the industry there will be a period of on the job training and mentorship before taking on your own case load.

Their clients include  risk managers, the insurance industry and legal profession. They will be looking for advice typically following slips, trips, falls and road traffic accidents. You will often be providing evidence in support or defence of an insurance claim. Following an instruction from a client you will usually carry out a physical site survey. This will enable you to prepare a full report. This will need to be robust enough to withstand legal scrutiny whilst remaining clear to  those from a non technical background .It may also support the defence or prosecution of a claim in court.

This absorbing line of work will provide plenty of variety and autonomy. There is often much at stake financially and your work will often be the catalyst for safety improvements.  When you are ready you will handle your own case load. A generous bonus scheme entitles you to one third of the fee income you generate. Working conditions are good and staff turnover is very low. There are excellent prospects as the frim is steadily expanding. This is a career with a high level of security and potential, there is demand for their services at all stages of the economic cycle.
