Project Engineer - Water & Wastewater – New Zealand

The focus on water infrastructure has grown significantly in New Zealand with $28 billion allocated to upgrading and improving assets throughout the country. This shows a major investment in the water sector, an investment that is long overdue in all regions. Over the next six months the first a number of major alliances will be put in place similar to the AMP’s (Asset Management Plans) currently working in the UK. Because of the increase in activity in the water sector there will be a growing need for professionals experienced in that space.

The main focus of the work will be on the refurbishment and construction of water infrastructure and assets including water treatment works and pipelines. The bulk of the work will be based in the main population centres, Auckland, Wellington, Tauranga, Hamilton and Christchurch but this is a nationwide initiative and as such there will be requirements in all regions as the projects are rolled out.

A variety of civil experience is welcome but particular knowledge of water related projects is a must for these positions. Positions will range from foremen/supervisors to Project Managers and cover all in between. As well as technically experienced you will have a focus on health & safety, with a positive emphasis on reducing harm on projects. The positions will be with national tier 1 contractors who can offer security and career development.
