Fantastic opportunity for a graduate structural engineer to join a small up and coming engineering firm in Buckhurst Hill.

The successful candidate will be working directly along side the director of the company who will act as a personal mentor. This opportunity is perfect for a graduate with high aspirations and the aim of achieving Chartership quickly. The Director is MIStructE and MICE and an ICE Examiner. You would be unlikely to gain such close and excellent training from such a senior mentor within a larger practice. The Director has come from a larger practice background but feels the time is right to run and build his own practice. He will be offering an excellent monthly bonus scheme on top of basic salary as well - unusual at graduate level!

You should have an excellent academic background, with a degree from a top UK university in Civil or Structural Engineering with a 2.1 or above and high A level grades. Preference will be given to candidates with experience already working in a structural practice, but recent graduates without experience could also be considered.

There are further plans for expansion with the company but as they are small this is a really key appointment and a chance to really learn, develop and excel. You will be a key part of the business and hopefully assist with the future expansion as well. The firm has already got a great and varied work portfolio, with projects such as an architecturally led private house with a stable block , a new car showroom and a 33 unit resi development . You will be involved in all aspects of projects including exposure to clients, visits to sites and design in all the main materials.

The office is situated two minutes walk from Buckhurst Hill station, is sociable as it is shared with an architecture firm and is within short walking distance of a lovely park and pubs. There is even the added benefit of cuddles with the Director's pug that he brings to the office…. he enjoys play and walks (the dog that is!)

Suitable candidates:

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Ideally some experience in industry, even better if it is experience in working with buildings.
  • Able to use AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic and aspirations of Chartership.

The successful candidate will enjoy:

  • A very competitive salary.
  • 23 days of holiday per year.
  • Christmas, tax year and monthly bonuses.
  • Payment of Chartership exams and training courses.
  • A budget for lunch every day.
  • Relaxed dress code
