We are looking for a self-motivated individual with proven knowledge and experience of compliance issues on a large, complex estate to join our Tier 1 Compliance Project as Estates Compliance Manager

You will lead on the delivery of a baseline assessment of compliance areas associated with plant & equipment, boats, flagpoles, graveyards and memorial stones to ensure our sites comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, and internal standards in support of HES business needs, and to reporting on an on-going basis thereafter.

Overview of the post and information about the team

The post sits within the Estates team as part of the Conservation Directorate which is responsible for the care and conservation of the 336 Properties in the Care of Scottish Ministers.  The Head of Estates leads the Estates team and is responsible for the delivery of the Estates Works Programme, operation of the HES properties and strategic management and investment associated with the assets.

You will be involved in the delivery of the Tier 1 Compliance project which is centred on the delivery of a national baseline assessment of risk associated with:

  • High level inspection/survey of vulnerable historic building fabric
  • Memorial gravestones/graveyards
  • Tree management
  • Plant and equipment (asset register)

You will take the lead on compliance issues associated with plant and equipment, boats, trees, flagpoles, graveyards and memorial stones across the Estate, reporting to the Tier 1 Compliance Project Manager, and working closely with regional staff and contractors (where required) to ensure operational delivery of inspection, testing and maintenance.

You will also be responsible for on-going monitoring and reporting of compliance and will work with colleagues to develop and implement standard procedures, recording systems and audit trails to ensure we can demonstrate/articulate our compliance with statutory regulations.
