Lincolnshire County Council have an exciting opportunity for you to join its career progression scheme for Engineers in our Technical Services Partnership, which is the Council's highway design office working with a private sector partner.

About You

Are you a natural problem-solver? Do you have an interest in designing and improving roads, highway structures, drainage infrastructure, street lighting or road signs and markings? If so, we have a role you.

We excel at 'growing our own' and we will support you through academic development through day release / apprenticeship learning at college or university, in parallel with working towards Eng Tech, Incorporated or Chartered status with relevant engineering institutions.

Having good communication skills, you will also demonstrate effective relationships in the way you work with colleagues and clients.  You will also require a full driving licence

You could be a school leaver, a graduate or a new Incorporated Engineer – it doesn't matter which as long as you fit with the team, are willing to develop and will work effectively for Lincolnshire.

On your application please let us know which job description your qualifications best suit you to.

About the Role

As we look after Lincolnshire's specialist highway assets, as part of your day to day, you could be inspecting these assets, designing minor works projects, or even working towards major schemes such as Grantham Southern Relief Road or the proposed North Hykeham Relief Road.

You will fulfil a rewarding role, with purposeful and sustainable work helping shape Lincolnshire's communities and the future of the county.

As we are more than just a design consultancy, you will be able to see projects through from concept to completion on site.

In return for all of this, you will access the fantastic Local Government Pension Scheme, a great holiday allowance, payment of professional subs, training opportunities and a whole range of other employee benefits.

About the Team

We are in search of people to join our friendly, efficient and productive environment that is the County's Technical Services Partnership.  Their role is to combine public sector ethos and private sector know-how to provide professional engineering expertise.

Technical Services Partnership thrives on challenge and excels in creating progressive solutions to complex issues.

We need a positive and enthusiastic team player, who will meet or exceed performance and productivity expectations. You will develop your engineering skills and take responsibility for delivery of your own schemes.

There are several grades available for this role, depending on your experience:

Engineer - G9: £31,371 - £34,788

Assistant Engineer - G8: £27,905 - £31,371

Senior Technician - G7: £25,295 - £27,905

About Us

Lincolnshire, a place to live and grow

One of the main reasons for joining Lincolnshire County Council is…well, Lincolnshire. With great schools, beautiful surroundings and affordable housing, this could be your ideal next move. From the big open spaces Lincolnshire is known for, including the famous Lincolnshire Wolds and 50 miles of coastline, there is probably more than you expected to our county.

From idyllic villages to the city of Lincoln, we have thousands of years of history meeting with a growing cosmopolitan University. Lincolnshire offers the perfect balance of opportunity, affordability and security. And we make sure you can make the most of it, giving you the flexibility to find your ideal work-life balance.

Not only is Lincolnshire one of the safest places to live in the UK, it's also one of the most affordable with average house prices up to 35% lower than the national average. 90% of our schools are rated outstanding or good and we have two growing universities, both of which have achieved gold awards for their teaching excellence.
