Structural Director

This is a senior management opportunity for a structural engineer with a successful multi-national engineering consultancy. Sustained success and major new investment is behind this new appointment to further develop their design-led building structures business. The London office is home to their largest contingent of structural engineers, your role will be to manage a team of structural engineers focused on design-led projects. These schemes will typically be large, medium rise schemes covering the residential, healthcare, education, commercial and arts & leisure sectors.

As structural lead you will work closely with clients at initial consultation and advisory stages. With the support of senior and principal engineers you will oversee the delivery of projects and be responsible for programming, resource management and quality. The company’s success can largely be attributed to the development of its personnel. This will be especially important for the continued growth and success of your team. You will be closely involved in the mentoring, appraisal and development of engineers and the selection of new engineering talent. The ability to inspire and get the best out of your team is essential.

You must be a chartered civil (MICE) or chartered structural (MIStructE) engineer. Your background will include working on complex building structures schemes requiring close collaboration with architects and clients. Excellent interpersonal skills and commercial acumen is essential. You will be expected to maintain and advance the high standards of client care and technical expertise provided whilst maintaining profitability.
