Within the Engineering and Consulting business my client provides services across a wide range of disciplines and applications in the Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind markets covering fixed and floating offshore structures, terminals, refineries, petrochemical plants and pipelines. Atkins has worked on over 1,000 Oil and Gas Installations with substantial involvement in overseas projects. They work on some of the most exciting and varied projects in the Oil & Gas and offshore renewable sectors, including integrity management of offshore installations, front end studies, detailed design and offshore repairs


Your new role


You will work as a Structural Engineer who has a good understanding of advanced analysis techniques, integrity management and the application of design codes to provide practical solutions to our clients' challenges of managing ageing assets and pushing the boundaries of new designs. As a senior member of the team, you will lead technical delivery of work packages and develop the capability of a team of engineers. You will also present your work to clients through reports and presentations.
You'll be responsible for conducting structural engineering analysis for assessment and design of all types of offshore structures including fixed and floating. You will deliver high quality structural finite element analysis and hand calculations, ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, as well as internal best practice procedures and contribute to analytical methods for specific structural engineering analysis. The role is ideal for a current Senior Engineer who is looking for the next step in their career.

What you'll need to succeed

With excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, you will be able to build relationships effectively and assist in winning work from new and existing clients. Comfortable at performing a range of analytical tasks, you take personal responsibility in achieving the best from yourself and colleagues to ensure client satisfaction. You are comfortable and adaptable to working in new and changing environments. You have good attention to detail and can make judgement under pressure. You'll have a strong background in offshore structural engineering with the below qualifications and ability to demonstrate experience in some or all of the following areas: * Engineering degree, honours or equivalent in civil, mechanical, structural, naval architecture or similar; * Chartered Engineer (or near to obtaining chartership) with a recognized engineering institution; * Structural analysis experience in some or all of the following: o Linear and non-linear offshore structural analysis (e.g. Fatigue, Ultimate and Accidental Limit States, Ship impact) - particularly, SESAM, USFOS and SACS; o Understanding of environmental loading; o Design and assessment of offshore structures to relevant code requirements (e.g. ISO, DNV, NORSOK, API) using a combination of hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis; o Linear and non-linear FEA experience in ABAQUS or similar package; * Reviewing and interpreting the results of analysis data to support inspection and remedial action planning; * Understanding of anomaly management and inspection planning (including Risk-Based Inspection - RBI); * Familiarity with uncertified lifting and laydown area assessments.
