Job Details
A management opportunity for a chartered civil engineer with a successful heavy civil engineering consultancy. This is a position for a civil engineer to help manage and co-ordinate the design process working alongside joint venture partners from design stages, through to construction. Strong interpersonal and team working skills are required to deliver one of the UK’s strategic infrastructure projects. The role will set your career on management trajectory and offers exciting career prospects.
The Project: A one mile, twin bored road tunnel incorporating cut and cover, open cut works and portals valued in excess of £900 million. This high profile project will be your first primary focus and requires over four years input. Reporting to the project director, you will be a key member of the delivery team with a focus on design management and co-ordination.
Your Role: You will be the point of contact for the consortium joint venture partners and consultants and perform a vital link between the London based design team and a contingent of tunnelling, civil and geotechnical designers based in their European Headquarters. There will be regular design team meetings, you will play a key role in ensuring the design and any changes required are practical and meet the required design standards. Working closely with the design director you will ensure technical information is shared and that the design process meets progress targets and quality markers. There will be fully expensed monthly visits to their European headquarters.
About You: A chartered civil engineer or chartered structural engineer with consultancy design experience that has included design co-ordination or management. Heavy civil engineering experience that ideally includes experience of underground structures or tunnel works. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders. The ability to deploy tact and diplomacy whilst acting in line with the interests of the company and the projects successful completion.
