CORMAC Consultancy is a technical consultancy service providing feasibility, design, engineering and project management services for infrastructure projects including structures, highways, environmental, traffic, and engineering solutions. It’s Cornwall’s largest engineering consultancy, employing over a hundred technical staff. 

About the Role 

The role will entail you dealing with all elements of bridge design, as well as inspection and assessment.  You will have experience in Structural analysis, design, checking and assessment of bridges, retaining structures and foundations and have experience of liaising with the Technical Lead or Project Manager as appropriate to establish a clear definition of the project requirements.  You will manage the work output effectively to meet a client brief, budget and programme requirements and be responsible for resolving technical issues as they occur and for the monitoring of the progress of your areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will lead on scheme delivery ensuring that managed schemes are delivered on time, to budget and to clients’ satisfaction. 
  • Manage the performance and attendance of team members within the Structures team.
  • Contribute to efficiencies and to promote business growth/opportunities. 
  • Responsible for the health and safety of managed staff and for those who will have to construct and use delivered schemes. 

About you

  • We are seeking candidates with successful and consistent achievement in leadersip in an engineering design related area,
  • You will be a Chartered (C.Eng) or Incorporated (I.Eng) civil or structural engineer or working towards such qualification. 
  • Have a proven track record of active involvement in highway structures work.
  • Proven project management skills, the ability to monitor project progress and finances.
  •  Demonstrable track record in the design of reinforced concrete bridges and retaining walls of different structural forms.
  •  Wide knowledge of construction methods and techniques
  •  Displays good interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience when dealing with customers. Has detailed knowledge of tools and techniques for dealing with challenging behaviours
