This is an opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of London's Silvertown tunnel, one of the UK’s largest and most complex civil engineering projects, its twin bore tunnels, cross passages, portals approach roads and associated works are planned to be completed by 2025. Your input on the project is estimated to last at least five years. You will be based out of the Silvertown Tunnel project office in Canary Wharf alongside the Riverlinx joint venture partners Ferrovial Agroman, BAM Nuttall, SK Engineering & Construction and their design consultants. The position is with one of the main design consultants, a leading civil engineering consultancy with a long record of successfully completed, high value road, rail, bridge, tunnel and water/waste water projects. Upon completion it is anticipated you would move onto another major new scheme upon completion.
Your role: You will alongside and report to the design manager and project director with focus on assisting with design co-ordination and smooth delivery. Your role will be to provide a vital interface between your company, the contractor/ client and other stakeholders. You will monitor project milestones, design compliance and programming and respond to early warnings and RFI’s and will manage information and delivery of additional design services that may be requested as variations are made.
About you: Three key attributes are required; organisational skills, civil engineering insight and good communication/interpersonal skills. You should have a consulting engineering background and at least three years’ experience. This should have included some responsibility for design co-ordination delivery and client interface. A degree in civil or geotechnical engineering at 2:1 or above is essential. Ideally you will be a graduate member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Support to achieve chartered status will be provided.
This is an opportunity to launch a career in project management in a sector benefiting from substantial government investment.
