A geotechnical engineer is required by a leading consultancy to work on a significant new highway scheme in the South West region. Reporting to the head of geotechnical engineering your role will be to work alongside their client, a tier one contractor. The duration of the input is one and a half years. You will be embedded with the client for the duration of the project, providing geotechnical expertise from concept through to detail design stages. In addition to well developed technical skills it is important that you have excellent interpersonal skills as you will be their main representative in the design office, whilst reporting to your line manager remotely.
You should be a degree qualified civil engineer or geologist, with at least five years’ experience, ideally gained within a consulting engineering environment. Previous major highways experience is not required, although you will need the skills and experience to apply your expertise in this area. You will carry out soil tests, slope designs, foundation designs and associated geotechnical works. Experience of using industry standard design software such as Plaxis, Oasys, Masters Series or similar is required.
This is an opportunity to work for a successful European consultancy associated with major heavy civil engineering schemes. They have a long and impressive record of working on large scale highway, tunnel and rail projects in the UK, Middle East and South East Asia.
