About the role and our team

We are looking for a Senior Structural Inspector to join our team within the Highway Services Division on the Isle of Man.

Within this role you will undertake civil, structural and bridge condition inspections and some of your duties will include the identification and remedy of defects, liaising with other Government Departments, site supervisions and report writing.

You’ll need to prioritise and categorise maintenance work requirements and escalate these service defects or concerns to the structural engineering team. You’ll get experience of dealing with both pre-planned and reactive inspections, allowing you to develop your skills in both areas.

You’ll be joining a small team currently consisting of three team members – a Junior Structural Inspector and a Structures Supervising Engineer who you will report to.

If you are a Certified Bridge Inspector or are willing to obtain this qualification, have sound knowledge of methods and materials used in the construction of highway structures and are a good team player then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

What can this role offer me?

We provide a wide range of training to help you in this role including management, health and safety and strongly encourage activities relating to personal development.

You will get the chance to have responsibility of supervising the Junior Structural Inspector, acting as a mentor and passing on the relevant knowledge to undertake civil, structural and bridge condition inspections.

If working flexibly is important to you, you’ll be happy to know we operate a flexi-time system making it easier to reclaim any additional hours worked and to fit your other commitments around your work life. We can offer free on-site car parking at Ellerslie Depot.
