We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative individual to lead Cambridgeshire County Council’s Highway Projects & Road Safety teams. Responsible for ensuring delivery of the county council’s annual programme, circa £20m, including local infrastructure, maintenance, structures and road safety.

About the Service

Place and Economy is at the forefront of making sure Cambridgeshire is open for business. This role is based within the Highways Service which is responsible for the management, maintenance and operation of the county’s highway and public rights of way network.

About the role

As Highways Projects and Road Safety Manager, you will lead, implement and develop a significant part of the Highways Service. You will be responsible for the performance of a wide variety of projects and will demonstrate strong programme and project management experience. You will be self-motivated and highly driven, with the ability to communicate effectively, collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, partners, local businesses and communities to develop and manage the County’s highway service.

This is a demanding but very rewarding role in a fast-paced environment, working in partnership with our service provider, Skanska. You will need to ensure projects are delivered in an effective, efficient and in a co-ordinated manner, working closely with local members. Technical knowledge is a given, but you will also have the experience and aptitude to work collaboratively, innovate, forward thinking and most importantly be able to work positively as part of a team.

This role will principally be based at Vantage House, Huntingdon, but the ability to travel to different locations is essential. Please note that due to Covid-19 this post currently operates on a working from home basis.

For informal enquiries please contact Richard Lumley, Assistant Director at Richard.lumley@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Interviews will be held remotely.
