Senior Highways (Civil) Engineer Required - Cardiff

Your new company
Your new company are a national multidisciplinary consultancy that is a wholly owned division of the wider company group. They provide a broad range of professional services covering the design, engineering, construction, infrastructure and property markets. They cover the whole of the UK with 50 offices and 3700 staff.

The Cardiff office, with over 150 staff, specialises in civil engineering and transportation. They are a leading local employer of transport planners and, due to the increasing workload, are expanding the 13-strong transportation team. They mainly work for public and private sector clients across South Wales but increasingly the workload is spread across the UK. They have a high-quality office with gym, showers, cycle parking provision, lockers and free car parking. They undertake a full range of challenging and varied work, ranging from the planning and design of public transport, rail and road schemes, to transport assessments, travel planning and public consultation work. You can expect to be involved in the delivery of technical transport planning projects, mainly via traffic modelling work, to a wide range of clients.
Your new role
You'll be a driven and motivated Highways (Civil) Engineer ready to hit the ground running at your new company. You will contribute towards the development and implementation of projects and programmes of work, alongside undertaking a range of technical aspects required for project delivery including feasibility, concept design and detailed design. You'll also have a key role managing, organising and motivating a team of engineers and technicians to deliver a variety of projects covering a range of complexities.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have previous experience within the transportation and infrastructure sector with a strong technical capability and successful track record in relevant projects. Preferably you will have experience working with Welsh Government/Highways England delivery procedures and protocols. Although you do not need to be experienced in using Civil 3D, you will need an understanding of the software package. Management skills are essential, as well as business development and dealing with clients. You will be capable of discuss engineering issues and identifying solutions as well as an understanding of the commercial issues in undertaking a construction project. A Bachelors or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject accredited by the Engineering Council OR you will already be or fast approaching Chartered Member status of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE).
