Senior Geotechnical Consultant

They have an opportunity for a chartered civil engineer with geotechnical and foundation engineering expertise with excellent technical, analytical and communication skills. They are  the experts of choice for civil and structural forensic and expert witness work for many of the UK's leading insurers, adjusters, client organisations and contractors. They are called upon to investigate the cause of complex  failures that have affected buildings and civil engineering structures above and below ground, that are the subject of disputes and claims valued up to around £400m. They work nationally and internationally providing clear and independent advice on complex problems to non-technical parties. In some cases, providing advice on the remedial options to be deployed.

This high margin business is consistently busy throughout the construction industry’s economic cycles. Their experts are drawn chiefly from the civil and structural consulting sector, attracted by varied and interesting work that is very well rewarded. As a civil engineer with knowledge of geotechnical and foundation engineering you will encounter a range of issues relating to:  CFA piles, deep foundations driven piles, bored piles, skin friction, barrettes, end bearing, mini-piling, underpinning, settlement, differential movements, bearing failures, ground borne vibrations, basements, underground stations pumping stations, power stations, shafts, water ingress, floatation and heave.
