Job Details

Transition to a sector with consistent demand for its services, commanding high fee margins. This is an opportunity to join the civil and structural division of a leading UK forensic engineering and expert witness consultancy. Their case load covers major infrastructure, buildings, and industrial assets. This includes highways, tunnels, bridges, high-rise buildings, ports, airports and more. Your workload will be varied whilst drawing upon your individual technical strengths. You will receive training and support from engineers who are leaders in their field.

You will be joining a team that includes architects, civil, structural and geotechnical engineers. Their workload is national and international, mainly on behalf of insurers, loss adjusters, lawyers and corporate clients. They are typically called upon to investigate the failure of structures above or below ground. This starts with a visual survey of the effected structure, you will then apply your engineering expertise to establish the cause of the failure, culminating in a report that sets out your findings. This is often used to settle an insurance claim and is used should litigation follows.

About you: A chartered civil engineer with a strong technical background that leans towards heavy civil engineering, ideally including some major highways or bridges experience. Knowledge of commonly used materials and an understanding of ground conditions and soil interaction is desirable. This expertise should have been gained within a consulting engineering environment. You will need strong analytical and lateral thinking skills and enjoy a workload that is especially diverse. Good communication skills are essential, you will need the ability to prepare reports that will hold up to legal and technical scrutiny.

On offer is the chance of a career with an upper quartile salary, training and progression in a sector in continuous demand.
