An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Flooding and Coastal Management Team of Bridgend County Borough Council. A vacancy has arisen for the position of Team Leader flooding and Coastal Management.

Bridgend County Borough Council have identified funding for some significant improvements to the Coastal Defences at Porthcawl and many other drainage improvements in the Valleys. This challenging and varied role will require an understanding and knowledge of the all aspects relating to flooding and coastal erosion risk management and to carry out duties to review, monitor and maintain drainage infrastructure which is the responsibility of the Highways Network Department.

We are looking for an ambitious individual to oversee and promote improvements to the coastal infrastructure and take a lead on carrying out the duties of Bridgend County Borough Council as a Lead local flood Authority.

This role will include:

  • Managing the Flood & Coastal team, in delivering its service objectives, performance targets and statutory duties.
  • Manage, develop and deliver flood management/coastal protection initiatives and projects and to discharge the Authorities Flood/Costal/Land Drainage Functions under the statutory acts
  • Identify, monitor and supervise the repairs to Highway Network Department Drainage Asset and to manage, control & supervise of flood management and Coastal Projects
  • The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the asset management and councils adopted flood risk management plan
