Role Purpose

The post holder will be working as part of the team in the delivery of our flood warning service.  They will be responsible for improving, maintaining and providing new service to communities identified at risk across North and Mid Wales. 

They will be responsible in preparing, planning and manage our response to flood incidents by ensuring local procedures are kept up to date.

They will also be able to prepare and contribute to our incident management training and exercise plan to enable our duty officers and external partners to be better prepared for floods as part of their response.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Degree in relevant scientific subject (e.g. physical geography, environment science or civil engineering).  Desirable.
  2. Graduate member of appropriate professional body (e.g. CIWEM, ICE or IRM) and working towards becoming chartered in the near future. 
  3. Operational Flood Incident Management experience gained over a number of years. 
  4. Demonstrable experience in technical report writing. 
  5. Computer literate. 
  6. Experience of coaching/mentoring people and the development of “junior” members of staff. 
  7. Must have a full UK driving licence.
