A Consultancy located in the Midlands are looking to appoint an experienced Structural Engineer to work on Historical projects located throughout the UK. This consultancy has a national presence with clients all over the UK and the successful candidate will join the business in Derby or Leicester and will assist in leading several high-profile structural schemes as well as liaising with clients and mentoring junior staff.

They are looking for someone with excellent design skills in all traditional structural materials, undertaking structural surveys of existing buildings and experience with existing buildings: Repairs, extensions, alterations, and remedial works for structural defects.

The main objective of the role is to provide independent (but supported and supervised) technical delivery of a wide range of projects, focusing on existing buildings, their survey, alteration, and repair. Ideally, the candidate will have experience of listed or historic buildings and be able to take a leading role in a growing team specializing in this area.

You will have 15 years' relevant UK experience working with existing buildings, assessing defects, proposing repairs, and designing structural alterations. You need to be practical, diligent, technically able, analytically rigorous, able to lead meetings, discuss problems with clients and check and supervise the production of information by junior staff when required. You will also need to be interested in undertaking regular building surveys, inspections, and reports of a wide range of buildings across the East and West Midlands.

This would suit an experienced Chartered Engineer, with an interest in historic buildings, or a more junior engineer with exceptional drive and interest in developing their skills.
