Part II Architectural Assistant for an East London Practice


This is an exciting opportunity for a Part II Architectural Technician who is keen to utilise their current
experience with a consistently reputable service.Project Architect for an East London Architectural Practise

A privately owned architectural practice based within close proximity of West Horndon main line station are looking to take on a Project Architect.

Currently a vacancy exists for a Part II Architectural Assistant (CIAT Certified) to assist with projects
from inception to completion. Works are not restricted to new buildings but can also include
refurbishment, alteration and other construction projects.

Responsibilities:
● Produce detailed workings, drawings and specifications
● Discuss the ideas, objectives, requirements and budget of a project
● Consult with other professionals about design
● Assess the needs of the building and its users and advise the client on the practicality of their project
● Assess the impact on the local environment
● Assist with preparation and design proposals specifically using computer-aided design (CAD) and other design software
● Assist Principle Architect or Project Manager to keep projects within financial budgets and deadlines
● Assist Management to prepare tender applications, presentations and documentation
● Prepare applications for planning and building control departments
● Advise clients on procuring the best and most appropriate contracts for the work they are undertaking
● Liaise with appropriate authorities (e.g. planning enquiries and building inspectors) when producing documentation for statutory approval
● Assist in specification of the nature and quality of materials required
● Carry out design-stage risk assessments
● Assist in the administering of contracts and project certifications;
● Obtain feedback from clients and people using the design, and report on the performance of the contractors and consultants
● Assist in the appraisal of the performance of designs which are in use and produce maintenance management information
● Evaluate and advise on refurbishment, re-use, recycling and deconstruction
● Follow client brand manuals to ensure compliance to design brief
● Complete weekly invoice sheets to indicate works which can be invoiced

● Good communication skills, as interaction with other professionals, authorities and clients will take place on a regular basis
● The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;
● A logical and practical approach as well as an ability to solve problem;
● Time management and ability to prioritise workloads
● Attention to detail and design, and the ability to visualise objects in three dimensions
● Planning and organisation skills, and the ability to learn quickly
