Geotechnical Principal Engineer (Temporary 12 months)

About the role
This position has become available due to extended Paternity Leave.
The Site Developments Service plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of regeneration and new development projects, and are in the process of restructuring and reshaping service delivery. You will have an opportunity to participate and influence the development of services, supporting the delivery of some flagship projects both within Leeds and the surrounding areas.
Managing a small but highly skilled team, you will be involved in a diverse range of geotechnical projects that will help transform the city and surrounding areas. The primary focus will be on highways and infrastructure and your team will deliver ground investigations and land appraisals.
Design and Conduct groundwork investigations
Draw up work and programmes and allocate work to staff and sub- contractors
Author geotechnical and geo-environmental interpretative reports, including all calculations
Prepare estimates, mentor performance against budget and compile reports
Provide clients with verbal advice in respect to current and future projects, including interim technical opinion advice
Liaise with clients, land owners, police and any other interested parties with regard to implementation of site investigation works
Maintain good technical knowledge of appropriate specifications, codes of practice and manuals, including those relating to contaminated land.
You will be a highly motivated engineer who can already demonstrate a successful career to date in the geotechnical field. It is imperative that you have strong technical knowledge, with a particular focus on issues relating to coal mining, excellent report writing skills and the ability to interpret complex data. In addition, we are seeking applications from candidates who have excellent commercial awareness and who will thrive in a people role. Building relationships internally and externally is crucial, so your ability to communicate effectively is very important.
