Hays Engineering and Manufacturing are pleased to working in partnership with a leading cold storage distributor of frozen and chilled food. Due to expansion and success are now seeking an experienced Engineering Manager.

Role

We are seeking a trustworthy and proactive engineering manager with many years of engineering experience and proven leadership skills. The engineering manager can expect to work on many projects at the same time, build and manage the engineering team, formulate and execute strategies at the same time whilst building a strong engineering team.

To be successful as an Engineering Manager you will have exceptional foresight and great communication skills as well as working knowledge of different engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities of an Engineering Manager

  • Improving and carrying out the planned maintenance programme in a timely and safe manner, minimising disruption to the operation.
  • Dealing with day to day maintenance problems.
  • Dealing with the suppliers of parts and equipment.
  • Develop and understand all equipment and contracts on site including cooling systems.
  • Managing contracts of significant service providers.
  • Ensuring key projects and engineering duties are fulfilled.
  • Providing clear and concise instructions to and the supervision of the engineering team.
  • Planning and executing strategies for completing projects on time.
  • Supporting the business to ensure the smooth flow of logistic operations within the warehouse.

Skills and Qualifications of a Engineering Manager will include

  • Electrical and mechanical skills and experience.
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised.
  • A flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure.
  • A need to use initiative and common sense at all times.
  • You will need to be proactive and independent comfortable making decisions but equally aware of when to escalate or communicate with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to interface with your team, key internal functions, external regulators, auditors and outside vendors.
  • Demonstrable organising, influencing and planning skills.
  • Excellent IT skills.
