This is a fantastic opportunity for an innovative Senior Structures Engineer to join the expanding Ringway Jacobs Structures Team in Essex. The purpose of the role is to deliver the maintenance work for the Structures Maintenance and Management Service to programme, quality and budget with input from the Team Leader. This will comprise the design of your own maintenance works as well as overseeing, training and line managing technicians and apprentices.  

The successful Senior Structures Engineer will have:

• Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent high level qualification, or significant experience in Structures
• Membership of or working towards membership of a relevant Professional Institution
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Extensive knowledge and application of Highway Legislation, relevant structures design procedures, standards and good practice
• Knowledge and experience of budgetary governance, management and control measures.
• Detailed knowledge and experience of a wide range of relevant structures service techniques and procedures including being fully conversant with the use of specialist structures software tools as required.

As the Senior Structures Engineer you will:

• Prepare, design, plan, programme and order structures works and services
• Assist in the management and monitoring of works programmes or services
• Provide timely and accurate advice to County Councillors, District Members, Parish Councils and the general public on all structures-related matters as required 
• Ensure the team’s performance in providing speedy and courteous responses to structures queries and complaints is in accordance with relevant targets and standards. 
• Provide assistance to the team leader in relation to all aspects covered within the group and deputise in their absence.
• Assist in strong budgetary control and financial management is undertaken throughout areas of responsibility.
